It's like having a crazy musician for a roommate. Detuned guitar loops and atonal patterns drifting like ghosts through the hallways some days, others, unhinged renditions of Elvis Presley, or the wild and untamed feedback of an abused guitar.
Saturn 63 is nonsensical and sincere all at once, sometimes blending the two so you don't know if the nonsense you're hearing is the truth, or if the soft crooning of Martel & guests is just lulling you into the absurd.
Love what you did with MattJam

If the name Seb Martel is still unknown to you, the guitarist appears on the credits of classic albums from Tony Allen, Femi Kuti, Manu Dibango or Christine Salem. Saturn 63, his new album on InFiné is dedicated to the exploration of the electric guitar in all its nuances. This new opus made from a selection of 9 guitars from the Musée de la Musique (a branch of the 3), and only enriched with the voices of his close collaborators (Camille, Sabrina Bellaouel, Vic Moan, Cindy Pooch...), unfolds on fourteen tracks a musical fresco faithful to the historical and geographical heritage of his instrument. The
album includes fascinating reworks of Carl Perkins, Benjamin Britten, Chavela Vargas or Vincent Segal in addition to his own compositions. However, adopting a dogmatic approach, and dressing his compositions with sounds and effects collected during the recordings, Martel offers an abstract and experimental edge to Saturm 63, which transports the listener into an out of time experience. seventy seven days
seventy miles away
riding for a while
seventy seven ways
on tracks I stay
seventy points of view
each one is a new
never satisfied
noone by my side
every turn is new
every pain is true
seventy nine days
seventy nights awake
with noone by my side
seventy nine days
seventy nights awake
with noone by my side
climbing and gliding
riding all through
looking for a clue
win-ner shi-ver cross- sign
never lost in the stars
never stuck on the moon
only one alone
Rimini Barcelone
hundred miles away
so many nights and days
crazy kind of fool
with so much to feel
bodyded as a tool
minded as a wheel
seventy kind of ways
seven hundred days
win-ner shi-ver cross- sign
ain’t no shelter - ain’t no doors
windy weekly back and forth
freezing faces burning bones
simply dying not a call

FR
